What was the situation?
In 2009 one of Australia’s leading healthcare groups was going through a period of mergers and acquisitions. As a part of the wider company amalgamation they wanted to integrate all areas of the company together which included training. Having used a variety of different providers on an ad hoc basis to deliver their presentation skills training, they wanted to form a stronger relationship with just one provider.
How did The Maura Fay Group contribute?
As part of their research into providers, they attended one of our Winning Presentation public workshops. The attendee was impressed with the creative practical application and high engagement of facilitators, saying in their opinion it far surpassed any of the providers they had used before. They left the course feeling confident in their own ability to transfer the skills they learnt into their everyday work life.
Following the encouraging feedback received from this program the company chose to engage us for additional in-house programs. After discussions and consultation on key outcomes the organisation wanted to achieve, it was agreed that we would provide two solutions; Presentation Skills and Consulting with Influence.
The client’s feedback was that they liked our ability to tailor their solutions to the organisation's culture and strategy, and more so that our facilitators were versed in using the organisations own language in line with their capability framework.
In the first year, training was offered primarily in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane with 25 programs being run across the three centres.
What were the results?
Feedback from the first year of training was so positive the organisation chose to expand the training and expanded the roll out to Adelaide and Perth in the second year.
Additional divisions under the parent company as well as additional business units were also added to the training calendar.
Moving forward...
As the company is currently going through internal change, we have recently been involved with the company on a more consultative level, helping them to conduct a needs analysis of where there are still gaps in their staff development strategy. They appreciate that we are supporting their growth initiatives.
