Key features
- High potential program
- Global roll out
What was the situation?
We had been working with our client (a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company) for several years delivering a number of programs including Presentation Skills, Difficult Conversations, Networking, Cross Cultural Communication and Storytelling. In 2009, the company undertook an internal engagement survey and whilst there were many positive results, the survey also indicated a gap in developing their female staff in leadership and the specific challenges women face in taking on leadership roles.
How did The Maura Fay Group contribute?
Based on our success of previous engagements, we were approached to design and deliver a solution package to provide leadership development and support to their female staff. After consultation with the client we developed an interactive, highly engaging two-day program, which would be delivered to women employees across the globe considered as ‘high potential’.
During this roll out, one of the attendees from the New York office was so impressed with the program, she recommended us to the head office to further utilise our expertise for the global high potential program they were soon to be embarking on.
The global high potential program was a leadership development program that managers from around the globe competed to be part of. Only 300 senior managers from around the world from all areas of the organisation were chosen and attended three sessions throughout the year to develop their leadership skills, and provide them with the skills to fast track to their next career step.
After a stringent proposal process, the organisation chose us because they felt we understood the needs and levels of the attendees, and were able to tailor the learning specifically to their needs. As high potentials the participants were quick, talented and needed to be communicated in an intelligent and fast paced manner. The attendees responded well to the highly intensive training that we provided to them.
The first of the sessions we delivered was a presentation skills program that focussed on communicating a message with confidence and impact.
What were the results?
The program received an overwhelming response and extremely positive feedback. The following year we submitted a competitive pitch for the full year of sessions, all providers were required to submit a blind proposal (with no company names or logos) as there was a large bias towards us. We were still successful in our bid.
The three sessions we delivered were Presentation Skills, Conversation Skills and Storytelling. Feedback from these has been outstanding.
As nine different operational groups are involved it was important that the project was well managed at our end as we had to ensure we met the needs of the different strategies being focused on with each business unit.
So far we have delivered training to the high potential group in 13 countries.
Moving forward...
Due to the positive feedback and results driven training we are hoping to be invited back for the 2011/2012 program.
