What was the situation?

One of the world’s largest oil and gas companies with over 83,000 employees and operations in 200 countries partnered with The Maura Fay Group for their presentations skills training.  The challenge that lay ahead for them was how to achieve global consistency with their training programs, while ensuring the content and delivery approach met the needs of each local country or region.

How did The Maura Fay Group contribute?

The client was looking for partner to design and deliver presentation skills training in 12 countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region.  The goal was not only to design and deliver a program that would meet the specific geographical and cultural needs of staff in these locations, but to do so in a cost-effective and efficient way.

We were approached for this project due to our quality reputation and highly regarded status in the Asia-Pacific region.  Another important factor was that we had a broad coverage of the Asia-Pacific region with offices in Australia, Singapore and Malaysia, which allowed us to deliver cost-effective regional solutions.

Unlike some training companies that focus on teaching westerners how to communicate in Asia, they liked that our flexible learning and development methodology, which was focussed on the developing each participants cultural tendency to be flexible to present to all different cultures. Particularly in this case, we worked with Asian employees developing their skill to communicate more effectively with both their Asian and Western stakeholders.

What were the results?

We were given a six year contract to design and deliver basic and advanced presentation skills solutions throughout Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.  Over 1200 staff were successfully trained during this engagement.

They have seen significant improvement in both the presentation and general communication skills of their Asia-Pacific staff.  In order to ensure they were completely satisfied, we committed to maintaining an average score of at least 90% on all the program evaluations.  Scores consistently exceeded that requirement, with the last two programs, receiving scores of 94% and 95.2%.
